Big Phony in 944 Magazine

June 3rd, 2010 by Big Phony in News

Check out Big Phony in this month’s 944 Magazine (Los Angeles), “The Music Issue” pg 38.  Also on stands in the LA area.  Yes, that’s me playing the guitar in the bathroom.  That’s what I do.

It’s funny, I wasn’t entirely sure if I was going to make the cut.  Originally, they were going to do a piece on LA “Bands” and when they contacted me to figure out the best time to get the “band” together for a photo shoot and interview, I was like “the band jumped ship, I’m all that’s left.”  Just kidding, I didn’t say that.  Lyndsey Byrnes, who shot and wrote the article was still open to meeting up even though “Big Phony” is really a solo-act.  She seriously rocks.

“But I Will, Everyday” Music Video by Justin Chon

April 1st, 2010 by Big Phony in News

Check out this music video my friend Justin Chon directed for a demo track I recorded with another good friend Wendy Wang (The Sweet Hurt!) called “But I Will, Everyday”.  I have great friends!  The entire video was shot on an iPhone if you can believe it.  I hope you like it as much as I do!

“Short Intermission” Music Video

March 10th, 2010 by Big Phony in News

Check out the new music video for the song “Short Intermission” shot by The Mighty Fifty.  Someone commented that it looks like the camera added some pounds.  Haha, good observation.  We actually shot the scenes with me in it last Summer (‘09) and then some in the Fall (‘09).  I’ve lost close to 20 pounds since then!

Big Phony at Three Clubs

March 9th, 2010 by Big Phony in News

Playing a 30 minute set at the Three Clubs this Thursday at 9pm sharp.  Hope you can make it out if you’re free.

February 18th, 2010 by Big Phony in News

The Hotel Cafe shows went very well.  Thank you everyone who made it out to either night!  I’m so glad many of you were able to be there for the first ever sold out Big Phony show.  I’ll never forget it.  Thanks for the SPAM t-shirt Suzy!

I made a terrible mistake both nights and forgot to mention that Jason Hiller (who was playing bass for us both nights) produced the album.  I felt like the biggest ass the next few days.  I still do.  Sorry Jason.  You deserve better.  I’m an ass.  You’re not.  You’re awesome.  Thanks for putting up with me and thank you so much for doing such an outstanding job with this record.  Again, you’re awesome.

For those of you that missed the show(s), here are some pics from the first night sent to me from Howard Min (above) and Charles Kang (below).  Thanks guys!

In a few weeks I’ll be heading back home to New York City to visit family, eat some good food, and play a show at The Living Room so if you happen to be in the area March 18 please do try and stop by.  Tickets are available through TicketWeb if you’d like to secure a ticket.  I’ll be playing most of the songs off of the new album along with some new ones I’ve been working on.  Hope you like it.

A lot of exciting things happening this year for me.  I’m really looking forward to see how things will pan out for me and this Big Phony thing.  Stay tuned for more music and some fun projects in the works.  Also, look out for Big Phony acting in a web series called “K-Town Cowboys” set to release sometime this year as well.  I know, so weird.

Wanted to give a shout out to my friend Jenny An who just opened up a children’s boutique in Los Angeles.  I stopped by the other week and checked out the store.  So great!  The place is called “Eggy” which means “baby” in Korean.  Here’s a pic of the front of the store.  Please try and stop by if you’re in the LA area.  The shop is on 3rd across the street from Joan’s on Third (awesome meatloaf sandwhich) and next door, coming soon is a Magnolia’s Bakery!

Thanks for stopping by.  I’ll try to have more exciting news for you as the year progresses.  Take care y’all.
