Big Phony Groupee Session

Big Phony Bobby

A few months back Groupee.com was kind enough to bring Big Phony in to record a live “Session” for their website.  Check it out HERE and feel free to leave nice comments, or not so nice ones.  Your choice.  I was fortunate enough to have Jin Soo Lim and Chris Joyner join me for a few songs for the session.  The ever talented Wendy Wang also lends her voice on “I Love Lucy”!

The “Won-ders”

Meet the Won’s.  Brian and Leny!

Brian and Leny are two of my dearest and closest friends.  For some time now they have been a source of true friendship, inspiration, and warm fuzzy feelings.

Brian is also responsible for all the great images and artwork created for Big Phony.  Check out more of his and his company National Television’s work.  Leny (also a super talented artist!) is actually the one who came up with the Big Phony “bag head” which I love to death.  They are both very dear to me and I can’t say enough about how much they mean to me even at the risk of sounding redundant.  Recently they were married and not only did I have the distinct pleasure of being in their wedding party but they also took me along on their honeymoon, no joke!

Anyway, I thought I’d introduce y’all to the fine folk behind the “look and image” of Big Phony.  Also, check out this recent interview Brian gave in the September issue of KoreAm Journal.  Upon asking Brian of a picture of himself, he sent them this pic of the both of us of which they ultimately cut me out of.  Good thinking on their part.  haha.

The Weekend

November 4th, 2008 by Big Phony in Random

Had a pretty fun packed weekend. It all started Thursday night at Hotel Cafe with a pretty laid back Big Phony show. A couple of friends joined me on a few songs. Wendy Wang sang back up and Jin Soo Lim played the lapsteel. Fun times. We passed out candy to everyone that looked bored. Needless to say we ran out of candy.

Friday I ended up at a Hollywood party. It was pretty crazy getting there, but fun seeing the streets full of wackiness. I dressed up as McGruff the Crime Dog. The mask was super hot so I figured out a way to turn it into a hat.

Saturday morning I had a fantastic hangover. In the afternoon I went to an art show that exhibited works created by Scorpios. In the evening some friends and I hung out at Spaceland and saw some really cool bands rock the house. The Sweet Hurt, Willoughby, The Parson Redheads, and The Spires. I drank lots of Scotch.

Sunday night Jin Soo and I were fortunate enough to see Ray LaMontagne at The Wiltern. Our good friend Chris Joyner has been on tour with him playing keys and stuff. Such a great inspiring show. We even got to hang out after “back stage” and drink free booze. It was cool.

Don’t forget to vote today if you haven’t already.

Happy times people.
