“Joohk”

May 27th, 2008 by Big Phony

… so I’m on day 8 on this “diet” called “The Master Cleanse” and I’ve lost 13 pounds so far. Here’s a good description of it:

“If you’ve never heard of the lemonade diet, basically it is a 10-day fast where you drink nothing but a special “lemonade” drink (fresh lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water). It is one of the best known methods for cleaning out your intestinal and colon walls. Although not intended as a weight-loss diet, it is effective at helping you balance your body and “rebooting” the metabolic process – which often results in weight loss.”

In the mornings you drink 32 ounces of salt water and before you go to bed you have a cup of laxative tea. Warning, you should be sure to be near a restroom when doing the salt water flush for at least an hour. It all comes back out, and some.

For the past week my mom has been stopping by often to check up on me. She’s been skeptical about this Lemon Diet since day one and is concerned about my rapid weight loss. This morning I walked into the kitchen and noticed she made me a pot of rice porridge (“joohk” in Korean). A typical meal served after one has been on a fast from food for a number of days. I think she’s trying hint at something. haha.

For the record, I feel great and highly energetic.

You gotta love mom’s.

She just moved back from New York a couple of weeks ago where she was helping my eldest brother and sister-in-law take care of their kids. Since her return, her and I have been working on a mother-son project. We planted some tomato seeds and have been helping it grow. Not really a project. It’s more like she calls me up and asks “did you water the tomato plant?” The first tomato just sprouted last week. Very exciting.
