Zooey, You’re Okay
Update: song up on YouTube now. Here you go!
… so I wrote a song called “Zooey, You’re Okay” earlier this year. It’s a song about Zooey Deschanel which I finally got around to recording at home on my dinky old laptop. I had this idea of making a cover for the song and having it look like the cover of J.D. Salinger’s “Franny and Zooey.” I told my bud Brian Won about it the idea and he whipped it up in 2 minutes and sent it my way. I like it very much. The song is okay too I guess. Haha.
To check out “Zooey, You’re Okay” visit the Big Phony MySpace page. Feel free to download the song. Maybe someone will make a little video or slide show with it? Perhaps we’ll have a contest. Best use of the song gets their own song? I don’t know, maybe they’d rather have a bag of chips or case of beer?

Lyrics:
Zooey Deschanel, I wish I was your type
I wish I was a part of your life, I like your style
I know that this can’t be
just take a look at me
but I’ll say it anyway
Zooey, you’re okay
Something would need to change… drop Mr. what’s his name?
Only if he was borderline lame, aw shucks he’s not
I know I don’t have any shot
Heck I don’t have a lot
but I’ll say it anyway
Zooey, you’re okay
I’ll throw in a joke for a smile, save your money
Ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha
Zooey Deschanel I wish I was your type
and I wish I was a part of your life
to make you laugh and cry… but the good kind
“Zooey, You’re Okay”

I love it.
It’s like being in a dimly lit cafe where you crave light, and when the light shows up, it’s in a part where you’re not allowed.
